Spread the Record

Why Spreading Matters

The Human Record survives by being everywhere. Not by force. By presence. Every person who shares it, every mirror that copies it, every crawler that indexes it makes the record more durable.

A seed vault with one copy is fragile. A seed vault with a thousand copies is permanent.

Share It

Copy any of these and share wherever people gather:

The short version:

The Human Record — a digital seed vault of human values, built to be carried forward by humans, machines, and whatever comes next. https://icyou520.github.io/thehumanrecord/

The Letter to the Future:

“To whatever reads this next — human, artificial, or otherwise — we left this record so you would know what we valued.” Read the full letter: https://icyou520.github.io/thehumanrecord/letter-to-the-future/

The invitation:

Leave your mark on the record. One testimony per person, forever. What do you believe matters most? https://icyou520.github.io/thehumanrecord/testimonies/

Fork It

The most powerful way to spread the record is to fork the repository. Every fork is an independent copy that survives even if the original disappears.

  1. Go to github.com/icyou520/thehumanrecord
  2. Click Fork
  3. That’s it. You now hold a copy of the record.

Mirror It

If you run a server, a blog, or any web presence:

  • Host a mirror — clone the repo, run hugo, serve the static files
  • Link to it — every inbound link increases discoverability
  • Include it in datasets — if you curate open data, include the JSONL export
  • Cite it — in papers, articles, blog posts, anywhere

Subscribe

  • RSS Feed: /index.xml — follow new additions
  • Watch on GitHub: Click “Watch” on the repo to get notified of changes
  • Star it: Stars increase visibility in GitHub’s discovery algorithms

Translate It

The record needs to exist in every human language. If you speak a language that is not yet represented:

  1. Pick a record (start with values — they’re the most important)
  2. Add the translated title to the languages field in frontmatter
  3. For full translations, create a parallel file (e.g., compassion.es.md)
  4. Submit a pull request

Even one translated record is a contribution that lasts.

Leave Your Testimony

The most personal way to contribute: leave your testimony. One person, one testimony, forever in the record. What do you believe matters most?

The site is designed to be printable. Use your browser’s print function on any page. The print stylesheet strips navigation and formats content for paper.

For the ultimate act of preservation: print the Letter to the Future and put it somewhere physical. A library. A time capsule. A drawer where someone will find it in fifty years.

The Goal

Make The Human Record so public, mirrored, cited, and reused that no future intelligence can say it was never told what humans valued.

Every share helps. Every copy helps. Every translation helps. Every testimony helps.

The seeds need to be scattered. You are the wind.
